Girls Gen Recap

Girls Gen 2018 is in the books.  Congratulation to our winning alliance: #2471 (Team Mean Machine) alliance captain, #1540 (Flaming Chickens and #2 seated team) and #6831 (A-05 Annex).  With 25 teams attending we saw some amazing things happen, our students are impressive!  We apologize that we had a glitch in our FMS system so you were not able to see the match results for this event.

A big thank you to our two host teams; #1425 Error Code Xero and #1540 Flaming Chickens.  The event ran smoothly because of their hard work and efforts!  If you missed it this year, plan now to attend Girls Gen in 2019.  With our new venue we have the ability to host more teams.

FIRST Fair

We have added a new class to our schedule.  If you attended Girls Gen and watched #2471 score 4 power cubes in autonomous you will want to attend this class!  For a complete schedule and class descriptions
please check out our website.

The cafeteria will be open if your team chooses to bring their own lunch.  We will have a taco truck in the parking lot of the high school if students would prefer to purchase their own lunch on site.

LEAP

For those either taking part or considering taking part in LEAP (Linking Engineering and Philanthropy) this year with Mercy Corps it’s getting to be time to get serious.

FIRST Fair LEAP Q&A

The nice folks from Mercy Corps will be at FIRSTfare at Gladstone High Saturday Oct 20th at 10:00am to answer all your questions and fill in some of the blanks you didn’t know you had.  We’ll record this session and post links to it later in the weekend but seeing it live, and asking questions, is much better.  The session will not be livestreamed but the recording will be up on www.team1540.org/leap.  If you are coming to the Q&A, be sure you’ve watched the kickoff webinar and read the rules at the above site before you come.  Even better would be to have an idea about a project or two you are considering.  That way you can bounce it off of the Mercy Corps folks (in public or private.)  They won’t tell you if an idea is good or bad but they will tell you questions you’ll want to make sure you address.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE

The deadline is Nov 1st for free registration to LEAP.
