The application link is now open for teams to apply for a grant through the Oregon Department of Education for the 2018-2019 season.  If you are applying for more than one program you can find the links on our website. 

If your team is interested in finding a mentor from Boeing here are some suggestions for you.  Reach out to your community to find local Boeing employees (or retirees) in your area.  Talk to family and friends: mentors are allowed to work remotely with teams!  We also have a local Boeing liaison who works hard to place employees to our teams in Oregon and SW Washington.  Please know that I have already sent him the list of where are teams are located and he is working to find new mentors.

Girls Gen Registration OPEN

Is your team already planning your Fall events?  Make sure to add attendance at Girls Gen to your calendar.  Your team can register to attend as well as apply for a grant sponsored by FIRST Tech Federal Credit Union.  We have half our slots filled so don't wait to register your team!

If your team will be traveling to attend, event overnight housing can be arranged through OMSI.  Contact Nate Lesiuk for details.

For those teams who have students who plan to mentor FIRST Lego League teams please make sure they attend one of these training workshops.

LEAP Results Important Dates LEAP Results FIRST Robotics Teams do more than just build robots. In an intense week-long competition, PNW FRC teams designed and presented ideas to create a new vision for OMSI and the Center For Innovation in order to attract and educate teens in STEM. The LEAP (Linking Engineering and Philanthropy) competition was organized by Team 1540, hosted by OMSI, and prizes provided by Autodesk. FRC Team 4488 Shockwave from Glencoe High School, in Hillsboro, was awarded the 1st place prize and $4000. Their winning proposal was entitled Escape Hall and was a multi-part escape room with the theme of Engineering Through Time . Team 4488 detailed the concept and designed a series of challenges for each of the rooms that combines the fun of team challenges while advancing STEM concepts and how they have progressed through time. We hope you are enjoying your sunshine!  You may be adjusting to a new way of doing school now that Kate Brown has closed schools for the remainder of the school year.  While our society adjusts and limits how we can interact with one another, we hope your team is still finding ways to stay well, connect with your team and communities to support them during this pandemic.   Evaluation Report   ORTOP completed an evaluation report to measure the ways FIRST impacts our youth participants.  We are committed to continuing this work into the future.  Teams are encouraged to use this tool in your work, both to prove the impact of the program and to suggest ways ORTOP can improve our approach.  Stay Connected with us!   All our lives have changed quite drastically over the past month!  As we all practice social distancing, we want to find a way to stay connected with each other.
