Mentor Roundtable
Coaches, I would strongly encourage you to register to attend Mentor Roundtable September 8th. We are hoping to share our collective knowledge beginning with this event. If you are one of our new coaches joining us this season this is where you will make the connections that will be a resource to you and your team moving forward.
Grants
It is that time of year again. Here are a list of grants for your team to consider. Follow the individual links to see if your team qualifies.
1. Every team that competes in the PNW District is invited to apply for the FIRST Washington grant. Unless you are prepared to pay the registration fee in full, you will need to fill our this grant before the deadline.
2. If your team is an Oregon public school, consider writing for an Oregon Department of Education grant. We still have funding available for veteran teams for the 2018-2019 season. This grant will close September 30th.
3. FIRST Tech Federal Credit Union is sponsoring a Diversity Learning and Discussion grant again this season. You do need to email me to get registered but all the training can be done online. In October we will have two discussion groups: one at FIRST Fair and another phone discussion group for those outside the Portland Metro area.
4. Congratulations to our Boeing sponsored teams this season!
5. If your team is considering writing for a NASA grant the application should open up September 1st. Keep checking the site for the updated application requirements. This is a great resource for teams who lost a significant funding donor last season.
OMSI Maker Faire
If your team is interested in supporting Maker Faire in Portland Sept. 15 and/or 16th please email me. I am hoping to find a local team willing to bring a scale for us to use in our demonstration space.
