Grant Update
Be sure to check the ORTOP website for any updates regarding grant opportunities for your team. If you haven't registered to participate in the diversity training we still have plenty of openings. Again, the training modules can be done online and there are two discussion groups: one in person at FIRST Fair and another phone group for those unable to attend that day.
If you are associated with a public school be sure to check out the Oregon Department of Education grant. We were able to increase our award allocations to qualifying veteran teams this year.
Synthesis/Tech Training
Here are the dates for the workshop. It is a 3-part series from 10AM – 3PM each day.
- Friday, August 24th
- Saturday, August 25th
- Friday, August 31st
Who runs the tech world? GIRLS! OMSI and Autodesk are teaming up to provide you the opportunity to learn
critical skills that will shape your future by becoming more able and confident in software development, design,
programming, and coding! Whether you’re an aspiring artist, designer, or engineer, get involved with a three-part workshop series and/or build skills at home.
If you can dream it – learn to code it! This four-part workshop series covers C# and C++, Agile development methods, JavaScript/HTML web application development, and Java programming. You’ll also get a chance to hear from dynamic and creative women as they share their personal stories as women in tech.
FIRST Internship Program Readiness -- Seize all that Girl’s Tech Training has applicant for the summer internship! 15 FIRST Robotic students will have the opportunity to complete a paid internship at Autodesk’s Portland office and work on Synthesis – an application that helps students design and simulate the best robot possible for their FIRST Robotics
competitions.
Refer to flyer for application information.
